Tequila Patron ESM has switched back to Dunlop tires for the remainder of the FIA World Endurance Championship season.
Team owner Scott Sharp confirmed to Sportscar365 of the switch, beginning with next month’s Six Hours of Fuji, following a three-race run with Michelin tires fitted on its pair of Ligier JS P2 Nissans.
It’s unclear how the Florida-based team has been allowed to make the change, as WEC rules stipulate only one change of tire brands per season. The team started the season with Dunlops.
ESM’s No. 30 Ligier Nissan will feature an all-new lineup beginning at Fuji, with Antonio Giovinazzi, Giedo van der Garde and Sean Gelael at the wheel of the LMP2 contender.
Ryan Dalziel, Pipo Derani and Chris Cumming remain in the No. 31 car for the final three races of the season.
