Mikkel Jensen will depart Peugeot’s FIA World Endurance Championship Hypercar program after this weekend’s 8 Hours of Bahrain season finale, the French manufacturer has confirmed.

Jensen, 30, has been one of Peugeot’s longest-tenured drivers, having been part of its driver lineup ever since the 9X8 debuted at Monza in 2022.

In 25 race starts for the French brand, he took three podiums, most recently finishing second behind Alpine at the 6 Hours of Fuji.

The Dane, who has also took the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship LMP2 title in 2021 and has competed in GTE machinery with Kessel Racing, is understood to be a target for McLaren’s LMDh program, which will make its WEC debut in 2027.

“Mikkel has been with us since the very beginning of Team Peugeot TotalEnergies’ FIA WEC journey in 2022,” said Jean-Marc Finot, Senior VP of Stellantis Motorsport.

“He helped build this project, always stood firm during challenging times, and, together with his teammates, delivered three world-level podiums.

“I want to thank him for his consistent performance and professionalism throughout these four years.”

News of Jensen’s departure comes amid previous confirmations of Nick Cassidy and Theo Pourchaire to Peugeot’s race lineup for next year.

However, Sportscar365 understands that Stoffel Vandoorne, who has been replaced by Pourchaire for this weekend, could be back in the mix for a surprise return to the team in 2026 after a reportedly failed attempt to join Genesis Magma Racing.
