ByKolles Racing announced Tuesday the addition of Pierre Kaffer and Vitantonio Liuzzi to its driver lineup, while also unveiling the livery for its CLM P1/01 AER that will compete in the FIA World Endurance Championship.

The LMP1 contender, an evolution of the prototype that ran under the Lotus banner last year, will feature backing from Austrian sponsorship company Yellow Wings.

Kaffer returns to the team after taking part in the majority of the races last year. He will be among the driver pool that includes ex-F1 ace Liuzzi and Simon Trummer, who was the first nominated driver for the effort.

“We did a lot of work to the car last year and I’ve seen the developments to the car first hand, my honest gut instinct is that we have a very strong car this year,” Kaffer said.

“I have a huge amount of respect for the team, we’ve known each other a long time ever since I raced for in F3 in Germany, and I know they love a challenge.

“This LMP project is very ambitious and I’m delighted to be part of this journey towards reaching our ultimate goal of having a private LMP car win Le Mans. Above everything else, I’m really looking forward to putting the car through its paces on the track.”

Further details on the program, including the unveil of the 2015-spec car, which features numerous updates over the first-generation CLM P1/01, is expected in the coming weeks.

The team will be at Paul Ricard later this month for the official Prologue pre-season test.
