Austrian Formula 3 driver Lucas Auer will complete Lotus LMP1’s lineup in next month’s Six Hours of Circuit of The Americas.
With the FIA Formula 3 European Championship on a two-month break, Auer will make his second appearance in the FIA World Endurance Championship, following his debut with the Lotus LMP2 at the 2013 season finale in Bahrain.
“After my participation at Bahrain last year, I always stayed in touch with the Lotus team,” Auer said.
“I am delighted that I will now get another chance to race with the team. Last year, I competed in the LMP2 class. Now, the next step into the LMP1 category follows.”
Auer will sample the Lotus P1/01 for the first time in Texas, a new circuit for the young Austrian.
“I know neither the track nor the car. But I learn quickly and I am looking forward to this new challenge.”
“I reckon that the step from the LMP2 last year to the current LMP1 car will be considerable, but I don’t see that as a problem either. Quite the contrary!”
Auer will join Christophe Bouchut and James Rossiter in the Lotus P1/01, in what will be the car’s debut.
