Four-time 24 Hours of Le Mans class winner Jan Magnussen will drive for LMP2 team Inter Europol Competition at this year’s edition of the French endurance classic.

Magnussen will share the Polish outfit’s No. 32 Oreca 07 Gibson with Anders Fjordbach and Mark Kvamme, whose FIA Bronze rating makes for a Pro-Am category effort.

Inter Europol is fielding two cars at Le Mans, considering the team also has its full-time FIA World Endurance Championship entry for Albert Costa, Fabio Scherer and Jakub Smiechowski heading to France.

Former Corvette Racing ace Magnussen is set for his 24th Le Mans appearance and his second in the LMP2 ranks.

The 49-year-old contested the 2021 edition in a High Class Racing Oreca with his son Kevin, who currently drives in Formula 1, and fellow Danish racer Fjordbach.

Last year, Magnussen joined Honda squad GMB Motorsport for a couple of Michelin Le Mans Cup rounds and also linked up with Kvamme to race for the American’s new MDK Motorsports venture, which included outings at the Gulf 12 Hours and Rolex 24 at Daytona.

“Huge thanks to sponsors ParkOne and Needit Denmark, who have taken advantage of a fantastic opportunity to be part of the world’s biggest race,” said Magnussen.

“For me personally, it is extra special, as it will be my 24th participation in Le Mans.

“Crazy to think that during my first race in 1999, I said to the press that I would not come back again. When I later crossed the finish line and saw the crew standing on the pit wall tired, dirty but also happy to see the car finish the race, everything changed.

“Since then, Le Mans has been the greatest moment of the year, and I’m happy to be back again for another try.

“With only weeks until the start, we have limited time for testing and preparation, but with a strong team behind us combined with a line-up of drivers with lots of long-distance experience, we are optimistic and looking forward to getting started.”

Kvamme made his Le Mans debut last year in a JMW Motorsport Ferrari 488 GTE Evo and is now set to return to LMP2 for the first time since Daytona in 2019.

“I have already had the pleasure of sharing a racing car with Jan through our work with MDK Motorsports in the USA, and we have often talked about a joint effort at Le Mans,” he said.

“I’m honored to line up with two such skilled and experienced drivers with Inter Europol Competition as Jan and Anders and at the same time I am looking forward to experiencing the enormous Danish support that you have heard so much about at Le Mans!”
