The French manufacturer has rolled out aero developments for next month’s 24 Hours of Le Mans, with the updated KCMG Oreca 03-R Nissan having been spotted on a Facebook post.
The Chinese squad will be joined by Sebastien Loeb Racing, SMP Racing, Millennium Racing, Race Performance, Murphy Prototypes and the Alpine-badged Sighatech squad with ORECA chassis at Le Mans.
It’s unclear, however, if all teams will upgrade to the new kit, dubbed the 03-R, which most notable features a new front bodywork design.
“With the ORECA 03R, which benefits from a new homologation, we logically and necessarily brought evolutions in terms of the aerodynamics, according to the LMP2 rules – that’s to say with the willingness to adhere to a moderated budget for the teams,” said ORECA technical director David Floury.
“The clear goal is to take the next step in performance in accordance with the characteristics of Le Mans. These modifications take into consideration rules which were introduced after the ORECA 03 was homologated, such as the openings above the wheels.
“Overall, our objective was to refine the aerodynamics. There will also be other detail changes, but not immediately visible.”
Matt Howson, Richard Bradley and Alexandre Imperatori will pilot the No. 47 KCMG entry at Le Mans next month.
