Prema has confirmed the signing of Iron Dames driver Doriane Pin to its two-car LMP2 effort for the upcoming FIA World Endurance Championship season.

The 19-year-old Frenchwoman is set for her prototype racing debut in the Italian team’s No. 63 Oreca 07 Gibson, while her co-drivers for the year are yet to be announced.

Juan Manuel Correa, who drove for Prema during its European Le Mans Series title run last season, is the first confirmed driver in the No. 9 Oreca.

Prema is expanding to a two-car program in the WEC after fielding one Oreca in the global series and one in ELMS for its prototype racing debut last year.

After making her GT3 debut in 2021, Pin burst onto the sports car racing scene this year by forming part of the Iron Dames Ferrari crew that won the Gold Cup class at the TotalEnergies 24 Hours of Spa.

She also won the Ferrari Challenge Europe Trofeo Pirelli title and the GTE class at the European Le Mans Series season finale.

The strong season was capped by the WEC selecting Pin to drive an Oreca at the end-of-year rookie test in Bahrain.

“I am very happy and excited to join Prema for the FIA World Endurance Championship in 2023 as an Iron Dame,” Pin said.

“I have been working hard for this and I am very delighted for such [an] opportunity and I can’t thank the team enough for their ongoing support.

“I am looking forward to starting the season in Sebring and to reach our common goals together with the team.”

Pin and Correa will be the designated Silver-rated drivers in their respective Orecas for Prema’s increase to a two-car entry in the WEC.

Pin is also set to drive an Iron Lynx Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO2 in the IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup alongside “further GT campaigns” according to an Iron Dames statement.

Iron Lynx and Prema entered a collaboration in 2021 that will roll into both organizations working on the 2024 Lamborghini Hypercar program with an LMDh car.

Iron Dames founder Deborah Mayer said: “I am extremely happy for Doriane, and to see an Iron Dame now racing in LMP2 with Prema in [the] FIA World Endurance Championship.

“Doriane is a young, talented and promising driver who had a very positive season last year which is testament to her hard work and determination. I wish her and the rest of the team the best of luck this season.”

Correa competed in two ELMS races with Prema and was part of the lineup that won the 4 Hours of Portimao finale to secure the title for the Italian team.

“It’s super exciting to be taking the next step up the endurance racing ladder alongside my Formula 2 commitments in 2023,” said the American driver.

“ELMS was a new challenge for me last year and one that I really enjoyed, so thank you to PREMA for keeping me on board as they step up to this new two-car entry in FIA WEC.

“We have a very cool calendar and there are some tracks I’m really looking forward to racing at for the first time, so I’m looking forward to another exciting season with the team.”
