The 2014 FIA World Endurance Championship schedule has been revised, with two dates shifting to accommodate an adjusted Formula One calendar for next year.

The Six Hours of Spa-Francorchamps and Six Hours of Fuji have been moved back one week in May and October, respectively, while race at the Circuit of The Americas will now be held on Saturday, Sept. 20, instead of the originally scheduled Sunday, Sept. 21.

“We have made these changes to the 2014 calendar to avoid any clashes with Formula One,” said FIA WEC CEO Gerard Neveu. “Half of the races will now take place on Saturday, which could mean some them finishing under night conditions, and this will allow us to plan some special entertainment such as fireworks at the finish and a concert on Saturday evening to improve the overall package on offer to the fans and to apply the Le Mans race event spirit.”

The Spa and Fuji date changes have significant implications for drivers and teams that had been hoping to compete in the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship and FIA WEC next year, as both races now clash with rounds of the IMSA-sanctioned series.

Spa now sits on the Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca weekend on May 3-4, while the Fuji round again clashes with the Petit Le Mans, which is scheduled for Oct. 4.

Previously, there were no conflicts between the TUDOR Championship and FIA WEC schedules.

The modified schedule will be presented to the FIA World Motor Sport Council for ratification during its next meeting.
