Longtime and accomplished team owner and manager David Price has passed away at the age of 75.

The Englishman, known to people in the paddock as “Pricey”, spent five decades in motorsports, including several key periods in sports car racing.

David Price Racing, which was founded in 1975 as an open-wheel outfit, contested the BPR Global GT Series in the mid-90s with McLaren F1 GTRs, followed by efforts with the Panoz Esperante GTR-1 in the FIA GT Championship and a BMW V12 LM entry at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Prior to that, Price himself was hired as team manager for Richard Lloyd Racing’s Sauber-Mercedes effort, which claimed victory at Le Mans and in the World Sportscar Championship in 1989, while Price followed it up by a stint at Nissan, also in WSC.

Price, who was charged with development of the Panoz GT-1 Hybrid, supported Panoz Motor Sports’ efforts in the American Le Mans Series and had been also involved with the DeltaWing project.

He had served as team manager for Gulf Racing Middle East’s Intercontinental Le Mans Cup program while came out of retirement to assist Bullitt Racing in GT4 competition in recent years.
