Scherer Sport PHX beat Herberth Motorsport to secure victory in the Hankook 12H Monza after leading from pole following the overnight intervention.

The No. 1 Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II driven by Elia Erhart, Michael Doppelmayr and Pierre Kaffer took the checkered flag with a lead of 24.7 seconds after the completion of the remaining 5.5 hours of racing on Sunday.

The No. 91 Herberth Motorsport Porsche 911 GT3 R of Daniel Allemann, Ralf Bohn, Alfred Renauer and Robert Renauer crossed the line in second place.

The two cars started from the front row after finishing first and second in Saturday’s opening portion of the race and repeatedly traded the lead back and forth.

The decision came when a late Code 60 within the final 15 minutes allowed the No. 1 Audi to splash for fuel, which enabled it to reach the finish in first place.

CP Racing’s No. 85 Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo piloted Charles Putman, Charles Espenlaub, Joe Foster and Shane Lewis completed the podium after late drama between HAAS RT and BMW Italia Ceccato Racing.

The two cars made contact at Ascari, which damaged the bodywork on the No. 21 Audi R in the hands of Miika Panu at Parabolica and prevented the Finnish driver from entering the pits.

The car was forced to complete another lap before it could pit and have the damage repaired, before it struggled to start and ground to a halt at Varianta della Roggia. It was eventually classified tenth overall.

The No. 15 BMW M4 GT3 driven by Leonardo Sanchez Secundino, Atila Abreu and William Thomas Freire received a 30-second penalty for the incident and dropped to fourth in the final standings.

The top five was rounded out by the No. 90 E2P Racing Porsche of Javier Morcillo, Pablo Burger and Antonio Sainero.

Atlas BX Motorsports’ No. 403 Mercedes-AMG GT4 converted its Saturday lead to victory in the GT4 category, with the class podium completed by Team ACP – Tangerine Associates and Buggyra ZM Racing.
