Jamie Green has been forced to miss this weekend’s DTM races at Misano due to acute appendicitis, and is set to be replaced by Pietro Fittipaldi.

Fittipaldi will drive Green’s Audi Sport Team Rosberg entry in the pair of races at the eastern Italian circuit, moving over from his usual Audi Sport Team WRT customer car.

Fittipaldi is contesting the rest of the DTM season in one of WRT’s two customer Audi RS 5 DTMs but was initially set to miss the Misano round, and so is available to move over to Green’s factory car.

“The symptoms appeared all of a sudden during the night from Tuesday to Wednesday,” said Head of Audi Sport Dieter Gass.

“We all wish Jamie a speedy recovery. He’ll definitely not be fit for racing again this weekend, so we’re happy that Pietro is able to stand in for him on such short notice.

“For us, Pietro is the best solution. He knows the car and showed strong performances in his first two DTM events.”

WRT will still have two cars on the grid this weekend, with one for full-season driver Jonathan Aberdein and another for guest star Andrea Dovizioso.
