Esmee Hawkey will make her DTM debut this year as a late addition to the grid, driving a Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo run by the T3 Motorsport team.
British racer Hawkey, the 2020 Porsche Carrera Cup GB Pro-Am champion, is set for her first race appearance in a GT3 car with support from multi-services company ROKiT.
Her entry marks the second Lamborghini DTM effort for T3 Motorsport, which previously announced a Huracan GT3 Evo for Belgian teenager Esteban Muth back in April.
T3 Motorsport is making its DTM debut this year following the German championship’s transition from Class One to FIA GT3 machinery.
Its two-car program comes in addition to involvements in ADAC GT Masters and ADAC GT4 Germany, and introduces Lamborghini as a fifth full-time brand in the DTM alongside Audi, BMW, Ferrari and Mercedes-AMG. McLaren has a part-season presence.
“The DTM is such a prestigious series with so much history so to be lining up on the grid this year is really exciting,” said Hawkey, who raced in the 2019 W Series season.
“I owe a huge thanks to both ROKiT and T3 Motorsport for making this happen.
“ROKiT have once again proved that they are a progressive and forward-thinking organization that have made it possible for me to take the next step in my career.
“T3 has a fantastic track record of developing young, driving talent and I have really enjoyed my first experiences with the team and car.
“With so little time before the first round, I know I am jumping in at the deep end but I’m excited to ramp up my preparations for the season.
“I know it is going to be a huge step up but it’s one I am ready to take and make the most of.”
The DTM season is due to kick off at Monza on June 19-20.
