Preining Fastest in Second Sachsenring Practice

Thomas Preining set the fastest time in the second DTM Free Practice session at the Sachsenring.

The Austrian driver piloted the No. 91 Manthey EMA Porsche 911 GT3 R to a best lap of 1:18.537, beating KÜS Team Bernhard’s Ayhancan Guven by 0.171 seconds.

Preining’s time was the quickest across Friday running, only 0.041 seconds faster than the time that both Kelvin van der Linde and Mirko Bortolotti set in their dead heat during the morning’s opening practice session.

Thierry Vermeulen completed the top three in the No. 69 Emil Frey Racing Ferrari 296 GT3 with a best time of 1:18.731, leading Bortolotti’s No. 92 SSR Performance Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO2.

Van der Linde rounded out the top five aboard the No. 3 ABT Sportsline Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II, ahead of SSR Performance’s Franck Perera.

Luca Stolz slotted into seventh in the No. 4 Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo with Toksport WRT driver Tim Heinemann in eighth.

The top ten was completed by Lucas Auer and the No. 7 ABT Sportsline Audi of Ricardo Feller.

The opening qualifying session of the weekend takes place Saturday at 9:05 a.m. CEST (3:05 a.m. EDT).
