The Dutchman, driving his own Peter Kox Racing Lamborghini Gallardo FL2, crashed hard in the high-speed right-hand Signes corner of the French circuit.
He was taken to the medical center before being transported to a local hospital, where he was held overnight for observation. It was determined the 50-year-old sports car veteran suffered two broken ribs in the accident.
It comes after an unlucky break in last month’s Bathurst 12 Hour, where his Lamborghini hit a kangaroo in the opening laps of the race. While Kox was uninjured in that incident, it did mark the end of the race for the Australian-based Lago team.
Kox is scheduled to take part in this year’s Blancpain Sprint Series as well as the Blancpain Endurance Series season-opener at Monza in a Chevy Camaro GT3 car.
