Avelon Formula topped the time charts in opening practice at Yas Marina Circuit as teams prepare for Friday’s third running of the Gulf 12 Hours.

The CN-class No. 94 Wolf GB08 of Ivan Bellarosa, Alessandro Latif and Ryan Cullen ended up quickest overall with a fast lap of 2:10.142.

It was more than one-second clear of the GT3 competition, which has traditionally been the pace-setting class in the event.

The No. 11 Kessel Racing Ferrari 458 GT3 of Michael Broniszewski, Daniel Zampieri and Cesar Ramos led the way in the GT3 class with a best lap of 2:11.451, which was less than two-tenths ahead of its sister No. 12 entry.

Ferraris swept the top-six quickest times in GT3, with the debuting M-Sport Bentley Continental GT3 the best of the rest in seventh thanks to a 2:12.912 lap time.

The GTX class was topped by the No. 90 Nova Racing Ginerra G50 GT4 of Luca Magnoni, Luis Scarpaccio and Pierre Piron.

The two-hour session saw two red flags for incidents on track.

Two additional practice sessions are on tap for Thursday, followed by qualifying in the afternoon.
