Former Corvette Racing factory driver Jan Magnussen has confirmed that he will continue his motorsport career in the new TCR Denmark series next year.

The two-time IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar GT Le Mans champion has signed with LM Racing to drive a Volkswagen Golf TCR in the inaugural 2020 season.

Magnussen, whose exit from the Corvette GTLM program was confirmed last month, is new to TCR but has widespread experience in his national touring car series.

The 46-year-old has been a regular competitor in his homeland for many years, even during his 16-year spell with Corvette.

He won two Danish Thundersport Championship races in 2018 and finished second in the standings the year before that, driving for his own Magnussen Racing Experience outfit.

Magnussen also won the Danish touring car title in 2008 and 2012 while he was competing in the American Le Mans Series.

“It has always been my wish to be present on Danish racetracks,” said the four-time 24 Hours of Le Mans class winner.

“Therefore, I am immensely grateful to have been given the opportunity to be on the starting grid for when the first season of the Danish TCR championship is launched [next] spring.”

Despite his new deal, it’s understood Magnussen is still pursuing opportunities to remain in the IMSA paddock next year.
