ABT Sportsline has announced that it will run a Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO2 at the Nürburgring 24 this year, opening a new sporting partnership with the Italian marque.

The German team, which ran three Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo IIs in the DTM last year, is set for its return to the Nordschleife after six years away with a single-car entry.

It will participate in at least two NLS rounds to prepare for the N24 event on May 18-21.

ABT has not yet confirmed the driver lineup for its Lamborghini effort, or the tire supplier.

“We are excited about this new motorsport partnership. Lamborghini is a great brand full of history and passion for motorsport and sports cars,” said ABT Sportsline CEO Thomas Biermaier.

“We have already experienced many emotional moments on the Nordschleife over the past two decades and now want to start a new chapter together with Lamborghini. The preparations have already begun.”

Konrad Motorsport was Lamborghini’s sole representative at last year’s N24, and qualified on the second row of courtesy of current factory driver Jordan Pepper.

The now-defunct FFF Racing Team was another recent Huracan GT3 Evo operator at the Nordschleife, partnering with Hankook for an entry in 2021.

ABT is set for its 10th appearance at the N24, after making its debut with a natural gas-powered Audi A4 quattro in 1999.

It also fielded the Abt-Audi TT-R DTM car, with which it finished second in 2003, and GT3 machinery from Audi and Bentley. ABT claimed another second place with Audi in 2009, while its most recent N24 outing occurred in 2017 with a pair of Bentleys.

As part of its new GT3 manufacturer partnership, ABT will expand its portfolio of tuning products to include Lamborghini models.
