Porsche’s 2019-spec 911 GT3 R will run on Falken tires for the first time in this weekend’s VLN race with Falken Motorsports becoming the first customer team to run the new car.

Porsche factory drivers Nick Tandy and Laurens Vanthoor will be joined by Martin Ragginger in the car for Saturday’s four-hour race at the Nürburgring.

The car, which is yet to be homologated, has already made race starts in VLN and the 24H GT Series with Manthey Racing.

Falken will run it with a larger front tire size of 300/680R18 instead of 300/660R18, along with a turquoise version of the Erlkoenig wrap design featured on Manthey’s yellow car.

Falken’s entry comes after the Japanese tire manufacturer’s team claimed a historic 1-2 finish in the most recent VLN race with its BMW M6 GT3 and previous-gen Porsche.
