Ayhancan Guven kept Manthey EMA in the lead of the Nürburgring 24 with six hours completed, while the leading Falken Motorsports entry was caught up in a collision with a slower car.
Porsche looked set to cross the quarter mark of the car in 1-2 formation with Guven’s No. 911 Porsche 911 GT3 R leading the No. 33 Falken car of Julien Andlauer.
However, Andlauer was caught up in a collision at Turn 1, hitting the No. 94 Sante Royale Racing Team Porsche 992 GT3 Cup after that car was stationary in the middle of the road having been spun round by another car.
The hit inflicted significant damage to the front of the teal and blue No. 33 car, which has since pitted and relinquished second place.
That promoted the No. 98 ROWE Racing BMW M4 GT3 EVO of Kelvin van der Linde into second place after the South African brought the car into contention after the red flag restart.
When the race resumed after being stopped for more than two hours due to a power outage, Van der Linde quickly the No. 17 Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo, No. 34 Walkenhorst Motorsport Aston Martin Vantage GT3 Evo and No. 1 Scherer Sport PHX Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II in the first few corners.
He then also took fifth from the No. 28 ABT Sportsline Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO2 of Luca Engstler.
His march up the order then continued by taking fourth from the No. 45 Realize Kondo Racing with Rinaldi Ferrari 296 GT3 and passing Mercedes-AMG Team GetSpeed driver Luca Stolz for third place.
Stolz continued to run third with the No. 17 sister car of Ralf Aron in fourth, with the No. 34 Walkenhorst Motorsport Aston Martin and No. 27 Red Bull Team ABT Lamborghini in fifth and sixth respectively.
