All three of Porsche’s current or future GT cars are testing this weekend at Monza, as the German manufacturer ramps up development of two new-for-2016 models.
Both the new Porsche 911 GT3-R (above) and Cayman GT4 were spotted at the Italian circuit Friday, alongside its 911 RSR GTE car, which also racked up mileage.
Six of Porsche’s factory drivers: Joerg Bergmeister, Richard Lietz, Patrick Pilet, Michael Christensen, Wolf Henzler and Fred Makowicki, are reportedly on hand for the test, sharing the three GT cars.
The Monza test is believed to be one of the first outings for Porsche’s new officially supported Cayman GT4, which was launched at the Geneva Motor Show last month.
It is expected to make its race debut later this year in an undisclosed series, ahead of full customer programs in 2016, which will include series in North America.
The GT3-R, meanwhile, is not expected to race until early next year, likely at the Rolex 24 at Daytona, following the decision to delay its debut.
