Porsche-contracted driver Laurin Heinrich will take on the Thailand Super Series with the AAS Motorsport by EBM team, starting with this weekend’s opener at Buriram.
IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship regular Heinrich will partner experienced Thai racer Vutthikorn Inthraphuvasak aboard the No. 18 Porsche 911 GT3 R for the pair of one-hour races that will take place on Saturday and Sunday.
The German driver is set to participate in the majority of the season, except races that clash with his primary commitments in the WeatherTech Championship and GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS Endurance Cup.
“It will be my first time visiting and competing in Thailand so I’m very excited to be going to Buriram!” commented Heinrich.
“We’ve been preparing well as we aim for a strong start to the campaign to create a solid base to fight for wins and podiums throughout the year.”
Porsche will also be represented by Absolute Racing, which is fielding the No. 26 car for Henk Kiks and Sandy Stuvik as the latest-generation 911 GT3 R makes its TSS debut.
A field of seven GT3 cars — which also features a pair of Ferrari 296 GT3s, a Honda NSX GT3, an Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II and a Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo — is set to be bolstered by a number of locally-produced GTM cars.
This weekend’s Buriram round marks the first TSS event under the championship’s new partnership with SRO.
As part of the move, it has switched to Pirelli tires, putting it in line with the various GT World Challenge powered by AWS series worldwide, and adopted SRO’s Balance of Performance for both its GT3 and GT4 classes.
This year’s TSS calendar is made up of five race weekends, with the series visiting the Bangsaen street circuit in July, Sepang in Malaysia twice across August and September and then Buriram again in early November.
