After winning the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup and filling the seat of the late Allan Simonsen last year in the FIA World Endurance Championship, Nicki Thiim will take on a new challenge with Audi this year. (En Français)

The 24-year-old Dane has been named as a factory Audi GT driver for its customer-based R8 LMS ultra program. It’s unclear where Thiim will be placed for the upcoming season with the German manufacturer.

The son of Kurt Thiim, Nicki started off in Danish Formula Ford in 2006 before switching to Sean Leon Supercopa Germany and then to the DTCC.

He made his debut in Porsche Carrera Cup Germany in 2009, finishing fourth in the championship. That same year, he won his class at the Nurburgring 24 in a factory Volkswagen Scirocco.

Thiim continued with Porsche, both in Germany and in Supercup. He’s currently scheduled to contest two FIA WEC rounds in the all-Danish Young Driver AMR Aston Martin, including the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
