15 Cars On Entry List for Sydney Round

This weekend’s penultimate round of the GT World Challenge Australia powered by AWS season at Sydney Motorsport Park has attracted a 15-car entry.

Published on Monday, the entry list comprises 12 Pro-Am cars fighting for overall victory, a pair of Trophy class entries and a sole Am runner that will take to the Eastern Creek venue for a pair of one-hour races as the title race nears its conclusion.

The most notable addition compared to the previous round at Hidden Valley is a 991.2-generation Porsche 911 GT3 R entered by EBM that will sport the famous ‘Pink Pig’ colors, to be shared by series debutants Tom McLennan and Andrew Georgiadis.

GWR Australia/RAM Motorsport also returns to the championship with a Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo for Michael Sheargold and Brett Hobson in the Am class.

Elsewhere, Wall Racing’s Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO2 will be back in action after missing Hidden Valley with Tony D’Alberto and Adrian Deitz at the wheel.

That boosts the grid back to five manufacturers as the Italian brand joins Audi, Mercedes-AMG, Ferrari and Porsche in having representation.

However, McLaren and Aston Martin remain absent as Volante Rosso Motorsport will skip a second event in a row, despite plans to field two McLaren 720S GT3 Evos.

Also missing the SMP round is the No. 666 Team BRM Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II.

After victory in the second race at Hidden Valley, Team MPC Audi duo Broc Feeney and Brad Schumacher take a ten-point lead to SMP over Tigani Motorsport Mercedes-AMG drivers Brendon Leitch and Sergio Pires, as well as Team BRM’s Mark Rosser.

Weekend action kicks off with two official practice sessions on Friday, plus an additional session for FIA Bronze-graded drivers, ahead of a two-part qualifying on Saturday and the opening race under the floodlights at 7:50 p.m. local time (5:50 a.m. EST).

The final race will be a daytime affair beginning Sunday at 2:05 p.m. (12:05 a.m. EST).
