Two-time Fanatec GT World Challenge Australia powered by AWS champion Yasser Shahin has switched to Porsche team EMA Motorsport for his title defense this year.

Shahin won the last two drivers’ championships with Audi squad Melbourne Performance Centre but will target his third consecutive crown in a Porsche 911 GT3 R.

He will share the No. 1 Porsche with Garnet Patterson, using a livery that includes references to The Bend Motorsport Park which is owned by the Shahin family business.

EMA Motorsport is joining the GTWC Australia grid as part of an expansion in its racing plans for the upcoming season.

In Europe, the Melbourne-based team is collaborating with former Porsche GTE-Pro factory squad Manthey Racing for a program that covers the DTM, Nürburgring 24 and CrowdStrike 24 Hours of Spa.

Additionally, EMA is fielding a pair of entries in Porsche Carrera Cup Australia, including one for Patterson who shared a United Autosports Oreca 07 Gibson with Shahin during last month’s Asian Le Mans Series.

“I’m so excited to get the opportunity to represent two brands I love – The Bend and Porsche,” said Shahin.

“The opportunity to drive and defend the GT title with EMA Motorsport is really exciting.

“The GT3 R suits my driving style, and the team is extremely committed to high performance in all respects.”

The six-round GTWC Australia season kicks off with the Hi-Tec Oils Bathurst 6 Hour on April 7-9.
