ROWE Racing has made the switch from BMW to Porsche machinery for the upcoming Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup season, revealing on Tuesday a two-car lineup with factory drivers for the Total 24 Hours of Spa.

The German team will run one new Porsche 911 GT3 R for the full Endurance Cup season with a second car at Spa in July.

The additional entry will be driven by Nick Tandy, Patrick Pilet and Fred Makowiecki, while the full-season entry is set to be piloted by Dirk Werner and Porsche Young Professionals Matt Campbell and Dennis Olsen.

ROWE won the 24H Spa in 2016 and came runner-up last year, on both occasions running the BMW M6 GT3.

“2019 brings an exciting new project for ROWE Racing,” commented team principal Hans-Peter Naundorf.

“We are realigning our international appearances in a totally new direction and are particularly delighted to contest the 24 Hours of Spa with Porsche.

“It is a real honor for us that such a renowned manufacturer that enjoys great success in motorsport such as Porsche is placing their trust in our team to compete with the latest generation of the 911 GT3 R.

“The name Porsche has a special ring to it in motorsport as a whole and in the sports car sector in particular.

“We not only have an extremely competitive race car, but also get to work with first-class Porsche drivers, whose successes speak for themselves.”

ROWE will still continue to run its BMWs this year, focusing them on VLN and the Nürburgring 24.
