New, Returning Entries to Add Diversity to GTA Grid for Barber

Several new and returning entires have given the GT America powered by AWS grid a boost this weekend at Barber Motorsports Park.

Sixteen cars are on the entry list for the pair of 40-minute races, up by one from Road America but notably featuring additions to the Cup and GT4 classes.

HP-TECH Motorsport will enter a Ferrari 296 Challenge car for Scott Barry, which will do battle with Cup class stalwart David Lecko in his RacingSupport Ginetta GTP8.

There will also be added competition in the GT4 ranks with Zachry Lee shifting over from Pirelli GT4 America competition to the single-driver sprint series with McCumbee McAleer Racing’s Ford Mustang GT4.

Lee will do battle with Craig Lumsden’s Colorado Motorsport with Flying Lizard BMW M4 GT4 EVO in class.

While Lawrence Tomlinson’s Team LNT Ginetta GT2 will not be present due to a scheduling conflict for the Ginetta chairman, and another fan-favorite entry, the Callaway Corvette C7 GT3-R of Mirco Schultis also skipping Barber, the SRO3 class will see Jon Manship make his first start since Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta in the No. 216 Wright Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 R.

Up front, Memo Gidley, who has won all but one race this season in the No. 56 SKI Autosports Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II, will likely lock up the SRO3 title this weekend.

Gidley holds a significant 92-point lead over second-placed Tony Davis, with a maximum of 100 points up for grabs in the final races between Barber and Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

GTA teams will take to the track for the first time on Friday, with cars eligible in a morning test session and Bronze Paid Test, before opening practice in the afternoon.

Practice 2 on Saturday will be immediately followed by qualifying, with Race 1 on tap for a 12 p.m. CST start. Race 2 will take the green Sunday at 9:25 a.m.

Both races will be streamed live on SRO’s YouTube channel.
