Argentina led the standings in the opening session for the FIA GT Nations Cup in Bahrain on Friday morning, with Ezequiel Perez Companc setting the pace.

Driving the HB Racing-prepared Lamborghini Huracan GT3, Perez Companc posted a best time of 2:02.835 during the 80-minute Free Practice 1 session.

He was classified 0.078 seconds clear of the French car, a Mercedes-AMG GT3 run by AKKA ASP and driven by Jim Pla.

They were followed by Italy, Belgium and the United Kingdom which completed the top five.

Rinaldi Racing’s Ferrari 488 GT3s arrived at the track during the session following delays clearing customs in Dubai, and are expected to set their first lap times in FP2.

The session was interrupted once in the closing stages to retrieve the Belarus car of Alexander Talkanitsa Sr., with a red flag halting proceedings for ten minutes.

Free Practice 2 will get underway at 1:30 p.m. local time, followed by qualifying at 4:05 p.m.
