A total of 26 cars are set for this weekend’s title deciders in Pirelli GT4 America at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, which will likely see at least one championship clinched in Race 1 of the weekend.
Random Vandals Racing’s Kenton Koch and Kevin Boehm, who hold a 49-point advantage over RAFA Racing’s Gresham Wagner and Tyler Gonzalez, will need to only start Saturday’s first 60-minute race of the weekend in their No. 97 BMW M4 GT4 EVO to take the Silver class title.
Championship outlooks in Pro-Am and Am, however, are significantly tighter and are set to go down to Sunday’s season finale at The Brickyard.
The closest battle is in Pro-Am, which sees a three-way fight with Josh Green and Sam Craven, also of Random Vandals, just four points ahead of ACI Motorsports’ Curt Swearingin, who will have Porsche veteran Jan Heylen as his co-driver this weekend due to season-long co-pilot Riley Dickinson going for his second Porsche Carrera Cup North America title at Circuit of The Americas this weekend.
BimmerWorld’s Tyler McQuarrie and James Walker Jr. also have a legitimate chance of title honors, nine points back on Green and Craven.
The James Clay-led BimmerWorld squad could also walk away with two class titles, with Clay and co-driver Charlie Postins holding a ten-point lead over RAFA’s Anthony Geraci and Kenny Schmied in the Am class.
Among the notable additions to the grid this weekend includes a Riley Technologies Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport for Spencer Pumpelly and former series champion Eric Filgueiras, competing in the Silver class.
Additionally, Nolasport has a revised lineup in its No. 47 Porsche for two-time Pro-Am class champion Matt Travis joining Matheus Leist, while Flying Lizard Motorsports will be back on the grid with a BMW for Zach Lumsden and Kris Wilson, who took Am class honors at Virginia International Raceway.
After missing the Barber round, OGH Motorsports is back with its McLaren Artura GT4 for Sean Gibbons and Sam Owen, while Auto Technic Racing returns to a two-car BMW lineup but with the new lineup of Gafurov Muzaffer and Ross Poole in the No. 52 entry.
Two test sessions are on tap for Wednesday, followed by practice sessions on both Thursday and Friday and qualifying later that afternoon. Race 1 is set for a 9:50 a.m. EST start on Saturday, just prior to the Indianapolis 8 Hour presented by AWS, while Race 2 will be on Sunday at 9:45 a.m.
Both 60-minute races will be streamed live on SRO’s GT World YouTube channel.
