SRO Motorsports Group has partnered with Portuguese race promoter Race Ready to create a new GT4 competition starting in 2019.

The GT4 South European Series will consist of five rounds with visits to circuits in Spain, Portugal and France.

Its first event will be a joint race with the French FFSA GT4 championship at Nogaro on April 21-22, before heading to Portimao, Estoril, Jarama and Barcelona-Catalunya.

There will also be a non-points scoring round held on the streets of Vila Real in Portugal.

The South European Series will follow the same format as its German, French and European counterparts, with two 60-minute races spread across each weekend.

There will be a Pro-Am class featuring one mandatory FIA bronze-rated driver and an Am category for all-bronze driver lineups.

“The GT4 concept has enjoyed tremendous success in recent years and its expansion into the Portuguese and Spanish markets is another important step in its development,” said SRO Motorsports Group founder and CEO Stephane Ratel.

“In Race Ready, I believe we have the ideal partner for this project as they understand the region and can always be relied upon to deliver a first-class event.

“I look forward to the series’ launch event at Nogaro and to watching its subsequent expansion on the Iberian Peninsula in 2019 and beyond.”
