Ginetta Cars’ Charlie Robertson and Tom Hibbert won an eventful first race of the weekend at Brands Hatch, overcoming three Safety Car periods for a victory in their debut race.

The No. 100 Ginetta G55 GT4 started from pole and Hibbert held onto the lead until the pit window opened.

He and the second-placed Ekris M4 GT4 of Max Koebolt came in at the same time, still close to each other as a result of a safety car period.

When all teams had completed their mandatory stops, Hibbert’s co-driver Robertson had reclaimed the lead, still being chased by the No. 8 Ekris Motorsport Ekris M4 GT4 now driven by Ricardo van der Ende.

Two more Safety Cars made it impossible for Robertson to pull away from van der Ende and in the end the No. 100 Ginetta G55 GT4 had a 1.213-second lead over the No. 8 Ekris M4 GT4.

Equipe Verschuur drivers Matty Graham and Csaba Mor crossed the line in third place, but the No. 10 McLaren 570S GT4 was given a penalty for overtaking under the safety car.

The resulting 20-second time penalty dropped the car down the order and promoted the Tolman Motorsport McLaren of David Pattison and Joe Osborne to third place.
