Craft-Bamboo Racing will return to the Pro ranks of the Liqui-Moly Bathurst 12 Hour with a single Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo.

The Hong-Kong based squad will contest the Australian classic for the sixth time, having secured an overall podium finish last year when Maro Engel, Daniel Juncadella and Kevin Tse came from the back of the grid to finish second.

It followed that up with an overall victory in the Indianapolis 8 Hour later in the year, which helped Mercedes-AMG secure the Intercontinental GT Challenge powered by Pirelli title.

The team will unveil its driver lineup, sponsors and livery at a later date, but outlines that it will be competing in the Pro category after running with a mandatory Pro-Am crew last year.

The Darryl O’Young-led team has been a regular front runner at Mount Panorama, finishing third on debut in 2015 and securing fifth places in 2018 and 2020.

“The Bathurst 12 Hour has a special place in our hearts – which is why, despite all the challenges in 2022, we made the trip over to compete in this iconic event,” said O’Young.

“We have come close so many times, but have yet to take the win here in Bathurst as a team.

“We have worked hard on the preparation for this year’s event, taking all the years of experience here to try and use that to our advantage.

“This year’s race will have a lot of strong competition, so we will have to be sharp to have a chance at the outright victory.”

Craft-Bamboo becomes the third major Mercedes team to confirm its presence at Bathurst, following GruppeM Racing and Triple Eight Race Engineering.
