K9H Motor Fest Launched for Kyalami 9H

The Kyalami 9 Hour will incorporate a new five-day festival of motorsport and motoring when the circuit hosts round two of next season’s Intercontinental GT Challenge Powered by Pirelli event on Feb. 21-25.

K9H Motor Fest’s addition will position the historic 9-hour race, which moved to Kyalami in 1961, as one of South Africa’s most diverse motoring events.

Family-orientated, motoring enthusiast and industry related activities will take centre stage alongside various activations, exciting entertainment and networking opportunities for corporates, manufacturers and the general public.

Activities include the inaugural Golf Day that will feature four-ball teams comprising some of the world’s best racing drivers, while a gala dinner and motorsport memorabilia-themed charity auction is also planned.

Both are part of the week-long public K9H Trade and Exhibition show, which acts as the ultimate test-drive opportunity for potential customers who can experience new models on the handling and 4×4 course.

Track action ramps up on Friday courtesy of 150+ entries across the various support series, as well as the 9 Hour’s qualifying and Pole Shootout sessions.

On Saturday those same cars will battle into the night once the Kyalami 9 Hour goes green at 1 p.m. local time.

“The 9 Hour has proven itself to be the premier event on the South African motorsport calendar, and a top-rated stop on the international tour,” said event director Adam Brown.

“We are delighted to confirm the 2023 event as the second round of the season, and we are especially excited to launch the K9H Motor Fest. The Motor Fest adds dynamic content to the successful formula for all our motorsport fans, partners and industry stakeholders.
