Flying Lizard Motorsports has confirmed a switch to Aston Martin for its Pirelli GT4 America program this year, as part of an increased presence by the British manufacturer in North American competition.

First revealed by Sportscar365 earlier today, the longtime Porsche squad will field a new-gen Vantage GT4 in both GT4 America Sprint and SprintX races this year for Michael Dinan (Sprint, SprintX) and Robby Foley (SprintX).

The California-based team ran Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport entries for Dinan and Foley last year.

“We are so excited for what 2020 has in store,” said program manager and team principal Darren Law.

“We have been reviewing the different platforms for the GT4 class and having spoken to the manufacturers as well as doing our analysis of each of the cars, the Aston Martin always came to the top of our list.

“It’s a new car that has a proper engine and transmission package and we feel it will be a very competitive car.”

Flying Lizard is understood to be one of a half-dozen teams that are likely to field the latest-gen Aston in GT4 America this year, with both Rearden Racing and Lone Star Racing also linked to purchases of new cars.

It would come in addition to the already-announced effort from BSport Racing, which will see Kenton Koch team up with 2019 TC America TCR DSG Cup champion Bryan Putt.
