Hindman Leads Acura 1-2 in Pre-Qualifying

Trent Hindman laid down a late flyer to go quickest in Pre-Qualifying and lead an Acura 1-2 heading into qualifying for Sunday’s Indianapolis 8 Hour.

Hindman took the No. 93 Racers Edge Motorsports Acura NSX GT3 Evo to a quick lap of 1:22.736, displacing fellow HPD-contracted driver Mario Farnbacher to second in the factory JAS Motorsport-run entry.

The No. 20 Wright Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 R, competing as the sole Silver Cup entry this weekend, was third quickest in the hands of Jan Heylen, followed by the No. 31 Team Hardpoint WRT Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo.

Walkenhorst Motorsport’s No. 34 BMW M6 GT3 completed the top-five in the 90-minute session, ahead of the Pro-Am pace-setting No. 75 SunEnergy1 Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo in seventh.

Friday’s pace-setting K-PAX Racing Bentley Continental GT3 could only muster the eighth best time in the chilly morning session.

The No. 33 Notlad by RS1 Aston Martin Vantage GT4, meanwhile, continued to pace the GT4 class, ahead of the No. 2 GMG Racing Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport in second.

No major incidents were reported in the session which ran without any stoppages.

Qualifying gets underway at 12:10 p.m. EDT ahead of the Pole Shootout at 5:30 p.m.
