Workman Doubles Up With Sunday GR Cup Win

Westin Workman doubled up in Toyota GR Cup North America competition with a commanding Race 2 win at Sebring International Raceway to sweep the weekend.

The BSI Racing driver, who claimed his first career victory on Saturday, took a 7.553-second win over the No. 72 TechSport Toyota GR86 Cup car of Ethan Goulart in the 45-minute race on the famed Florida airfield circuit.

Workman took over the points lead as a result of the weekend sweep.

Goulart, who dropped down to fourth at the start to the No. 2 Copeland Motorsports entry of Jaxon Bell and John Dean’s Legends class Copeland Toyota, managed to re-take both positions in the early running.

He then held off a hard-charging Bell to score his best finish of the season.

Dean, meanwhile, picked up the Legends class win with a fourth place result, with Ethan Ayars completing the top-five for Nitro Motorsports.

Lucas Weisenberg was sixth in the No. 46 Lucas Racing Toyota, with Will Robusto seventh for RVA Graphics Motorsports by Speed Syndicate.

Ayden Kirk appeared to have an issue with his No. 47 TechSport Toyota and made contact with the No. 31 Nitro entry of Jackson Tovo in Turn 7 in the closing minutes of the race.

It however, did not result in a full-course caution, despite Kirk’s car stranded by the side of the road.

Kirk was handed incident responsibility with a drive-through penalty that he was unable to serve.

The race, however, featured a yellow for the No. 80 Nitro Toyota of Paityn Feyen, who stopped on course with an issue on the opening lap.

It resulted in a 33-minute green flag run to the checkered flag.
