Two-time defending Pirelli World Challenge GTS champions Blackdog Speed Shop will have two new cars and one new driver for the 2015 season.

The Ray Sorenson-led team moves from the older Camaro ZL1 spec to the Chevrolet Camaro Z/28.R for 2015, after the team tested it on the promoter test day at the 2014 season finale at Miller Motorsports Park.

Michael Cooper, the 2012 Touring Car class champion, moves to the team full-time to replace Lawson Aschenbach, who has won the last two driver’s championships and will focus primarily on his Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge commitments in 2015.

Cooper made his team debut at Miller last year and posted eighth and fourth place finishes in the two races.

“I’m excited to be given the opportunity to represent Blackdog Speed Shop with the new Camaro Z/28.R in the PWC,” Cooper said. “I’m looking forward to demonstrating the performance of the new Camaro in the battle to win my second PWC championship.”

Cooper will be in the No. 10 entry, with Blackdog veteran Tony Gaples in the sister No. 11. Gaples returns to the Camaro after a one-off Ford Mustang Boss 302S appearance at Miller.

A new livery is expected to be revealed in the coming weeks. Blackdog partners for the year include Team Chevy, Eibach Springs, Goodwin Competition, Braille Battery, Inc., GO PUCK, and OMP Racing.
