Braun Quickest in Opening Practice at Road America

Colin Braun led the way in opening practice for Fanatec GT World Challenge America powered by AWS competitors at Road America, in a session that was brought to an early end by an accident from his co-driver.

Braun reeled off a best lap of 2:06.162 in the Pro-Am class No. 04 DXDT Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo to outpace the No. 20 Wright Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 R of Jan Heylen by 0.783 seconds.

The No. 3 K-PAX Racing Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo of Jordan Pepper and Andrea Caldarelli was third quickest overall and fastest among the Pro class competitors.

The 60-minute scheduled session came to an end when George Kurtz suffered an accident on his out-lap in the No. 04 Mercedes with 15 minutes left on the clock.

The session did not restart.

Compass Racing’s Acura NSX GT3 Evo of Matt McMurry and Michael Di Meo was third quickest in Pro-Am and fourth overall, ahead of the Pro class No. 33 Winward Racing Mercedes of Philip Ellis in fifth.

The No. 96 Turner Motorsport BMW M6 GT3 of Robby Foley was sixth, with Ryan Dalziel setting the seventh fastest time overall in the No. 63 DXDT Mercedes.

Practice 2 is scheduled to get underway at 3:50 p.m. CT.
