Braun Tops Opening Practice at Road America

Colin Braun topped the time charts in the opening Fanatec GT World Challenge America powered by AWS practice of the weekend at Road America.

The CrowdStrike by Riley driver reeled off a best time of 2:02.597 in the No. 04 Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo to outpace Daniel Morad’s No. 9 TR3 Racing Mercedes by 0.484 seconds.

Bryan Sellers made it a Mercedes sweep of the top three positions in the No. 08 DXDT Racing entry, meanwhile.

The No. 94 BimmerWorld BMW M4 GT3 of Bill Auberlen paced the Pro class in fourth, followed by a late improvement from Stevan McAleer in the No. 28 RS1 Porsche to slot in fifth.

The No. 45 Wright Motorsports Porsche, the No. 43 Bartone Bros by RealTime Mercedes, the No. 120 Wright and No. 53 MDK Motorsports Porsches and the No. 91 DXDT Mercedes completed the top-ten overall.

There were no major incidents or red flags during the 60-minute session.

The second session of the day gets underway at 3:15 p.m. CDT.
