James Davison has been suspended from this weekend’s first Pirelli World Challenge race at Utah Motorsports Campus, following an incident in last month’s round at Mid-Ohio.

JRM development driver and Blancpain GT Series veteran Craig Dolby will drive the No. 33 Always Evolving Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3 this weekend, the team confirmed on Thursday.

Davison, who was on probation through the Mid-Ohio event, was involved in an incident with the No. 13 K-PAX Racing McLaren 650S GT3 of Colin Thompson in the first race, leading to the suspension.

Per PWC, Davison violated rule PWCR 1.11.3 – making avoidable contact while on probation.

“According to the rulebook, any driver who is on probation and violates the term of the probation is automatically suspended for one race – the next round,” said race director Dorsey Schroeder.

“The Davison violation at Mid-Ohio occurred at the start of Race 1 before the start/finish line that included contact with Colin Thompson.”

An on-board video of the incident has surfaced, which shows Davison spinning after contact with Thompson.

Another video, meanwhile, shows no contact between Davison and Thompson at the start

Dolby will make his PWC debut this weekend, as part of the team’s plans for an expanded three-car program for next year, which is likely to also include SprintX.

“We’d love to have James and Bryan [Heitkotter] back with us next year but Craig is certainly one of the guys on our radar for the expanded program,” team owner Erik Davis said.
