Reigning Porsche Carrera Cup North America presented by The Cayman Islands class champions MDK Motorsports will expand its efforts to include Fanatec GT World Challenge America powered by AWS next year, with a confirmed Porsche 911 GT3 R entry.

Trenton Estep, an overall race winner in Porsche’s premier North American single-make series, will be joined by rising star Seth Lucas in a brand-new Type-992 Porsche.

“When we started MDK, we wanted to create a team where young drivers could find a home to develop their skill and talent,” said team owner Mark Kvamme.

“Seth has quickly demonstrated his talent behind the wheel, and we look forward to him and Trenton competing for the SRO GTWC Championship.”

Twenty-two year-old Estep, meanwhile, will be making his SRO America debut.

“This is definitely the biggest step in my career and to sign it with a team of this stature just makes it that much more exciting for me,” he said.

“I think to sign a full-season contract with a GT3 car in any series across the world is a special thing, so I’m excited for what’s to come.

“SRO is a super competitive series and a new one for me. It will definitely be a learning year for me as a driver with a new car, new series, and some new tracks.

“That being said, I know the preparation that’s going on in the off-season and I’m confident we will have a good year.”

Lucas made his GTWC America debut during last month’s Indianapolis 8 Hour presented by AWS, scoring the Am class win at the wheel of Zelus Motorsports’ Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo.

“The race season just ended but I am already anxious to get the 2023 season started,” Lucas said.

“I am thankful to have the opportunity to join the MDK Motorsports family as we have goals and aspirations that are aligned with one another.

“I learned a lot this past year and can’t wait to put those experiences and knowledge to use in my run for additional race wins and a series title.”

The Ohio-based team, which will return to Carrera Cup North America competition with an expanded four-car effort, is expected to make further announcements in the coming weeks related to its presence in SRO America next year.

It will include entries in the new-for-2023 Toyota GR Cup that is sanctioned by SRO.
