Ian James has taken the Panoz Avezzano GT to the top of the time charts in the second Pirelli World Challenge GTS practice session of the weekend at Road America, in blazing fashion.
The Englishman reeled off a 2:19.671 lap time in the car to outpace the No. 99 JCR Motorsports Maserati GT4 by 0.571 seconds. James was the only driver to break the 2:20 barrier.
Martin Barkey was third quickest in the No. 80 Mantella Autosport KTM X-Bow GT4, with Lime Rock Park race winner Rodigo Baptista fourth in the No. 3 Flying Lizard Motorsports Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport MR.
Mark Klenin made it five different manufacturers in the top-five in the No. 62 McLaren 570S GT4, also leading the way in the GTS-A subcategory.
The 30-minute session saw a brief red flag, for the No. 13 ANSA Motorsports KTM X-Bow GT4 of Austin Versteeg, who stopped on track and needed a tow back to the pits.
Qualifying for the first GTS race of the weekend is set for Saturday at 9:20 a.m. CT, with Race 1 set for 5:45 p.m. later that day.
