Kyle Marcelli has been confirmed as R. Ferri Motorsport’s driver for the Pirelli World Challenge SprintX rounds, joining Alex Riberas at the wheel of the team’s Ferrari 488 GT3 car.
The 27-year-old Ontario native joins the Canadian-based team for the five-round championship, which kicks off next month at Virginia International Raceway.
“I’m overjoyed with this opportunity to pilot and represent such an iconic brand,” Marcelli said.
“This program has my full attention and best efforts. I look forward to driving alongside Alex Riberas. He’s very quick and I expect we will push each other to get the best result on track.”
Marcelli’s SprintX ride comes after a dual PWC and IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season last year, where he delivered solid results at the wheel of CRP Racing’s Audi R8 LMS ultra and an Oreca FLM09 fielded by Performance Tech, respectively.
Riberas, meanwhile, kicked off his PWC Sprint season campaign with the Ferrari squad earlier this month at St. Pete.
“We are excited to have Kyle join our team,” team owner Remo Ferri said.
“Being a young Canadian driver, I’ve followed his career closely over the years and I feel he’s a good fit for our team and will work well with Alex at the SprintX races.
“I’m happy to support Canadian racing talent by giving them a platform to showcase their abilities and hopefully achieve a larger role in the Ferrari Racing Program.”
