McCann Racing will make its return to Pirelli World Challenge competition, beginning with next month’s SprintX round at Virginia International Raceway, having confirmed an Audi R8 LMS with Mike Skeen.
Skeen, who finished runner-up in the 2014 PWC championship, will partner team owner/driver Michael McCann for the VIR round, with additional races in the works for the longtime Dodge Viper entrant, which switches to the mid-engined Audi.
The Ohio-based squad campaigned a Riley-built Dodge Viper GT3-R in selected PWC rounds last year.
“The new car is a lot different than what I’m used to, but I’m really enjoying it so far,” McCann said. “I’ve been able to gain confidence in the downforce this car produces and have gotten down to some competitive times.
“If things go well at VIR, we’d like to keep doing SprintX and maybe add a few GTA weekends as well.”
Skeen added: “I’ve really enjoyed working with all the guys at McCann Racing in these initial tests and the car has proven to be very capable already.
“I’m excited to be a part of the PWC paddock again and look forward to more great racing.”
