Kyle Marcelli topped the time charts in the second practice session for GT World Challenge America powered by AWS teams ahead of this weekend’s resumption of racing at Virginia International Raceway.
The Racers Edge Motorsports driver took his No. 80 Acura NSX GT3 Evo to a quick lap of 1:44.898 in the 60-minute session, outpacing the No. 63 DXDT Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo of Ryan Dalziel by 0.104 seconds.
While quickest in the session, Marcelli’s time was just over three-tenths slower than Colin Braun’s pace-setting lap from the morning, which held as quickest of the day.
Braun ended Practice 2 third quickest in the No. 04 DXDT Mercedes, followed by the No. 1 Squadra Corse Ferrari 488 GT3 Evo of Rodrigo Baptista in fourth.
Trent Hindman completed the top-five in the No. 93 Racers Edge Acura.
Quickest in GT3 Am was Max Root in the No. 20 Wright Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 R, who set the sixth quickest time overall.
Ryan Gates was again quickest out of the GT Sports Club America competitors taking part in the GTWC America race simultaneously this weekend.
Eleven of the 12 total entries turned laps, with Jason Bell the only absentee from the session.
Qualifying gets underway Saturday at 8:30 a.m. ET.
