Daniel Morad will join Ryan Dalziel at the wheel of CRP Racing’s Mercedes-AMG GT3 for the Pirelli World Challenge SprintX rounds, the team confirmed on Monday.
The recent Rolex 24 at Daytona class winner and 2016 IMSA Porsche GT3 Challenge Cup USA and Canada champion is set for the five-round campaign, beginning with this weekend’s season-opening event at Virginia International Raceway.
Morad, who has extensive Porsche experience through its single-make series, as well as the German manufacturer’s GT3 car, will make his debut at the wheel of a Mercedes-AMG GT3.
“The past 12 months have been career-changing, winning two championships in 2016 and recently winning the 2017 Rolex 24 Hours at Daytona in the GTD class,” Morad said.
“I really appreciate the opportunity from Nick Short and the whole team. There were a lot of top drivers in the mix for the seat so it’s a real honor to have been chosen to pursue this exciting challenge.”
The team heads into VIR on the heels of a season-best sixth place finish in the Sprint round at Long Beach.
“I’m really looking forward to VIR,” Dalziel said. “I haven’t been there since the resurfacing, but it sounds like it’s perfect now. I’m excited about the first SprintX race of this season and hoping Daniel and I can get a win.”
