Absolute Racing has confirmed it will run a pair of Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evos in Blancpain GT World Challenge Asia next year, with a lineup including Franky Cheng Congfu.

Cheng will be joined by Sun Jingzu in the first car, while the team’s second lineup is yet to be announced.

It sees Cheng move from the Silver Cup, in which he competed with Martin Rump last season, to the Pro-Am class with Sun.

“We are pleased that the successful partnership with Audi Sport customer racing Asia continues on Asia’s racetracks in 2019,” said Absolute team principal Ingo Matter.

“We are glad that we can confirm at this early stage to be running two cars at least.

“The Audi R8 LMS new Evo package upgrade not only looks exciting but also proved to be a big improvement on the racetrack as the results of early December tests showed.

“Our goal is clear, to go for the championship title, winning as many races as possible on the way.”

AMAC Keeps Unchanged Lamborghini Lineup

Australian outfit AMAC Motorsport has kept its driver lineup of Andrew Macpherson and William Porter in an upgraded Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo, meanwhile.

The pair will contest the upcoming Blancpain GT World Challenge Asia season after finishing runner-up in the Am Cup this year.

“We had a great year in 2018 learning all these world-class circuits in Asia,” said team owner/driver Macpherson.

“As a team we thoroughly enjoyed the season and cannot wait to be back on the grid at Sepang mixing it with the best teams and drivers that Asia has to offer.”

A new rule this season stipulates that each GT3 Pro-Am and Silver Cup crew must include at least one Asian driver, although Am Cup and GT4 Asia competitors are permitted two Australians or New Zealanders.
