Absolute Racing has added a pair of new-gen Porsche 911 GT3 Rs to its Blancpain GT World Challenge Asia program, in addition to two Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evos.

The Chinese squad has elected to expand its entry in the renamed SRO series to a total of four cars, confirming the Porsches on Monday in addition to its Audis that it announced last month.

The team’s previous success with Porsche includes two podiums in the FIA GT World Cup at Macau as well as three championship titles and 40 race wins in Porsche Carrera Cup Asia.

Yuan Bo, its first announced driver, clinched the Class B crown with Absolute in the regional Carrera Cup series in 2016 and will be paired with a Porsche factory driver for the Blancpain GT Asia assault.

The second lineup will be announced in the coming weeks, as will the team’s second Audi lineup to join the previously-announced pairing of Franky Cheng Congfu and Sun Jingzu in the first R8 LMS GT3 Evo.

“When evaluating our options for 2019 we thought it was a good opportunity to pursue a new challenge and reinforce our presence in Asia’s leading GT series,” said team director Fabien Fior.

“Our relationship with Porsche dates from day one of Absolute Racing. We’re creating a program around our loyal customers and Porsche factory drivers and this is a unique opportunity and great platform.

“I’m looking forward to working together with Porsche Motorsport Asia Pacific this year. We’re confident that our driver line-ups combined with the new GT3 R can achieve great success.”
