HubAuto has become the first GT4 entrant to commit to the new Blancpain GT Asia Series, confirming on Sunday that it will enter a Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport MR in the sprint race championship next year.

The Taiwanese squad, led by Morris Chen, is coming off GT3 Pro-Am class victory in last weekend’s Motul Sepang 12 Hours.

“We are very excited to be able to announce our racing plans this early and the Blancpain GT Series Asia platform is just perfect,” Chen said.

“Going to Japan twice is ideal for us and live TV is great for our partners. We are working on a GT3 project also, so watch this space.”

HubAuto joins the previously announced three-car GruppeM Mercedes-AMG GT3 effort as confirmed entries for the SRO Motorsports Group’s new series, which will give $20,000 in transport credits for the first 20 entries submitted.

“I had the honor of visiting HubAuto’s facility in Taiwan and I expect the team to aim for the highest step next season in GT4 AM/AM class,” said series general manager and director Benjamin Franassovici.

“The GT4 class will excel in the future and Porsche will supply teams top customer service at all events. I can’t wait to see this class to blossom in Asia in the same way it has done in Europe and in the U.S.”

GT3, GT4 and GT Cup cars will race together in a pair of combined one-hour races over the six-round schedule next year, with plans in place to seperate the top two classes into individual races for 2018.

The 2017 season kicks off at Sepang in April, supported by the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo Asia series.
