Vincenzo Sospiri Racing has announced it will return to the Fanatec GT World Challenge Asia Powered by AWS for the first time in five years with a two-car Lamborghini effort.

The Italian outfit will enter a pair of Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO2s in the six-round series, which it last contested in 2019 prior to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Since then, the team has competed in multiple series in Europe with Lamborghini machinery, including International GT Open and Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe Powered by AWS.

Chinese racer Ye Bian, who won last year’s Am title in a Climax Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo, will be partnered by Edoardo Liberati in one of VSR’s entries, while the driver lineup for the second car is yet to be announced.

“I’m very proud to be returning to Asia with the support of Lamborghini Squadra Corse and am thrilled to welcome Bian to the VSR family,” said team owner Vincenzo Sospiri.

“I am sure he and Edoardo will make a competitive pairing and [we] look forward to announcing a strong line-up for the sister car shortly.”

Giorgio Sanna, Lamborghini Squadra Corse’s head of motorsport, added: “We are very motivated about our return to the Fanatec GT World Challenge Asia after a few years’ absence.

“Asia-Pacific is an important market for us and combining the experience of VSR with Bian and Edoardo we expect a competitive season.”
