Spectators attending the TotalEnergies 24 Hours of Spa this weekend will have access to a single large bubble created by merging the three previously announced fan zones.

In a change to the plans for fan access, race organizer SRO Motorsports Group has done away with its initial three-bubble system in order to “facilitate fans’ access to the event” after some hesitance in ticket-buying since sales started on July 13.

SRO has introduced a single spectator area covering around half of the 4.3-mile Spa circuit, starting from the La Source hairpin and running in the direction of race traffic down to the exit of Pouhon.

It replaces the separate bubbles from La Source to Eau Rouge, along the Kemmel Straight and from Les Combes to Pouhon.

A single parking area and one access point will be set up, streamlining the original plan of having three car parks and entrances for each of the bubbles.

Spectators will continue to require having a negative COVID-19 test to enter the venue, with a 72-hour window before entry for PCR and a 48-hour window for lateral flow.

Proof of vaccination status has not been validated by the Belgian authorities as a way to access the event.

An SRO spokesperson told Sportscar365 that fans will be allowed to remain at the circuit through the night portion of the race, rather than having to leave the premises at the end of each day as originally stated.

The paddock areas for the 24 Hours of Spa and support series, which constitute a separate bubble, will remain out of bounds to the public.

SRO has said that all spectators, including those who have already purchased their tickets, will have access to the single expanded bubble.

Thursday, Friday and the race on Saturday-Sunday are open to the public.
